Cool To Collaborate

From the onslaught of ‘noise’ in the marketplace these days, finding your voice (or better still, using it loudly enough to reach) can be challenging.

This challenge is no different for the social network professional leading the way in promoting your brand, product, or business.

Just this week (thus this article) we were asked to open DENNER Media up to collaboration with another Marketing Firm, as well as third creative talent in the space for the launch of an exciting brand. While the brand is exciting in and of itself, the parallel excitement in bringing together 3 different agencies and groups of creatives is palpable.

And hey, the benefits are extended to everyone involved in this collaborative effort, or any you may be involved in. Newer to the business? Chances are you’ll be working alongside some amazingly talented, seasoned veterans. Been around a while? Upside is you can impart some of your wily marketing savvy to the next generation of cat-herders and wordsmiths.

Better still, if you’re the client, you’ve not captured the best anyone’s money can buy (on your comparable budget). You now have the perspective of a variety of Agency interpretations, a multitude of talent (which may even span generations), and unlimited opportunity in vetting products and ideas, split-tests, gaps, and more, all thanks to any number of professional and personal circles that your collaborators travel in.

Homes get built based on a variety of specialties and influences. From the architect, to the contractor, subs in electrical, plumbing, tile, and more, to the exterior finishes, paving companies, and landscapers. And yes, while there are certainly companies out there who do ALL of those things as part of their offering, you get a uniquely varying perspective in hiring individual firms to bring the vision of your new home together.

So too, with your brand and marketing campaign.

Remembering Them

While we’d like to say that on this Remembrance Day we stand ‘with’ our Veterans, our fallen, and the many left behind, the truth is that we do not.

We can’t say that we do as we have not. We have not stood in front of you. Prepared to sacrifice our all for the safety and betterment of others as you have. We’ve not even stood ‘with’ you. We’ve not been on the front lines with you. We’ve not stared down the enemy on the field of battle, not knowing if today would be our last.

We WILL, however, today and every day, stand ‘behind’ you. Behind you in recognition of your sacrifices. In support of you and your family upon your return, if you’ve been so fortunate. Behind you with the respect and admiration deserving of someone willing to give their life for an unknown other.

Turkeys Can’t Fly?

If you enjoy laughing, you no doubt already know what we’re referring to here…and it was all happening ‘Live’ in front of the “Buckeye Newshawk Award” Winner, Les Nessman!

Easily one of the funnier, and more memorable Thanksgiving Day sitcom scenarios, we’re admittedly drawn back to watch the WKRP in Cincinnati clip every year as Thanksgiving draws near. Not surprisingly, we find it as funny today, as the night it first aired.

What’s less funny, of course, is when we can liken our own ill-planned marketing experiences to tossing turkeys from a helicopter flying our name or call-sign on a banner.

There’s absolutely something to be said for the gratification that comes with finally launching a new campaign. Likewise the rush of at times throwing caution to the wind and pushing something out that wasn’t researched and vetted can be extraordinary. Aykroyd was born in our Nation’s Capital, Ottawa.

Now, having said this, we’ve done some amazing work in the US and Italy, and have collaborated on other work across the US…but we absolutely love where we’re from!

And hey, what’s not to love?

Compliance In Connectivity

No, we’re not talking about whether or not you should use a Samsung, iPhone, or Blackberry…we’re talking about being ‘connected’ to the online world. Social Media for Financial Advisors and Investment Professionals.

Most we’ve done initial assessments with arrive with concerns over their angst in being ‘on social media’. Minds filled with horrific tales of compliance, etc., and feeling connecting with their clients (and potential clients) by any means other than ‘snail mail’ (yup, Canada Post still exists), telephone, or fax (we know…we know).
